CHEMISTS TO CONFER
REMITS FOR CONSIDERATION.
The fifth annual conference of the Pharmaceutical Society of New Zealand will bo lield in Wellington this week. Tho meeting will take place in conjunction ’ with the Australasian Pharmaceutical. Conference. Amongst tho remits for consideration is a proposal that a school of pharmacy be established at Dunedin. The Southland division suggests that the Friendly Societies Act bo amended so as to restrict the friendly societies’ dispensaries to the supply, to their members only, of medicine and surgical appliances. The Wellington division proposes a compulsory contribution of master and apprentice to a fund to meet apprentices’ expenses at a school of pharmacy or at pharmacy classes. The Otago division suggests an amendment of the Pharmacy Act to give the board power to remove from the register tho name of any chemist who, in file opinion of a majority of tho menbers of the hoard, is unfit to remain upon the register owing to disreputable character, habit, or practice. An addition to the code of ethics is proposed to the effect that it, is highly undesirable that a medical practitioner should make use of any part of a chemist’s business premises for the pmposes of a consulting room.
