SWIMMING
THE CHAMPIONSHIP . MEETING A meeting of tho Wellington Swimming Centre, Mr. P. N. Rundle presiding, was_ held last night. Hie AVellington' branch of the Royal Life-Saving Society wrote, asking to moot the centre representatives in regard to the team to bo sent to the ■Timaru championships, and wishing to know how the cost was to be apportioned. On the motion of Mr. Allen, it was decided that the society pay half of tho expenses only of men who take part in contests other than lifesaving. Tho society also wrote in regard to the advisability of co-operating in a deputation to the City Council to obtain, if possible, definite information in regard to the establishment of tepid baths. It was decided to join in a deputation this month.
On the motion of Mr. Beasley, it was decided to pay the travelling expenses of two men other than swimmers, .to accompany the team to Timaru, and to select an A polo team, to compete at- Timaru, and a B team to practice with it in the meantime.
The rules of the Olympia Swimming Club wore received for approval, and were submitted to the secretary for perusal
In reply to a query by a delegate, tho chairman said that the centre would no doubt be willing to assist at any carnival got up at Masterton to revive swimming there. Messrs. J. McNie and P. Coira were appointed ileui'.itos to tho conference at 'Timaru during the championship meeting.
