AVAIRARAPA BOARD. FROM OUR SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT. Carterton, January 9. The AVairarapa Electric Power Board held its monthly meeting at Carterton this morning, Mr. J. C. Cooper presiding. Tlie treasurer's statement showed loan proposals dr. £40,000 : tenders deposits, dr. £1135: specifications deposits, £159 Ils. Cd.; and with sundries made a total of £41.381 14s. 4d. The credits included AA’aiohinc investigation, £81" 16s. lOd.; consulting engineers. £1556 17s. sd. : administration and general, £4852 ISs. Bd. ; debenture interest, £756 14s. 2d. ; land and buildings, £2162 Ils. 4d. : fixed deposits, £23,591 ; balances, £6016 ss. 9d. Messrs. Cooper, Kershaw, Hutton, and Moore were appointed n finance committee to arrange for tho board’s requirements from time to time. The engineer reported that during the month tenders had been accepted for house wiring material and some power station equipment. A consignment of 1200 poles from Newcastle is expected this month. Supplies of cable have been shipped, and the substation at Al asterton should be ready in five weeks’ time. It is proposed to call tenders for the erection of pcles in small blocks. Arrangements have been made with the Railway Depart ment to dump polos in specified airns in the station vards from Opaki to Featherston. Good response has 1 oen received in answer io anplicat’ons for house-wiring. The tender of John AleLachlan was accepted tor taking and delivery of poles at liis schedule rate which average ss. a pole. lb was decided that the engineers for the AVaiohine investigation, b<* asked to furnish further data in regard to that scheme. It was decided to register the nam« "Kourar.au” as a cable code.
