ARCHER DEFEATS BURNS

London, January 9.
Archer defeated Burns, the referee stopping the fight in the eleventh round, when Burns was in a bad way, and nearly knocked out, and awarded a victory to Archer. Burns led in the first few rounds, but in later rounds was no match for his opponent.—Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn.
BURNS’S CAREER ENDED. (Rec. January 9, 11.25 p.m.)
London, January 9. “Sporting Life” says that so far as big matches in England aro concerned Burns’s career is ended. He was decisively beaten by the light-weight when the referee intervened. His legs were giving way, he Was army weary, and exhausted. The paper pays a tribute to his right punch, which would *avo‘knocked out most middle-weights. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
