DECK HAND INJURED

MISHAP ON WAINUI. When the Union Company’s passenger steamer Wainui arrived at Wellington yesterdav afternoon from Picton, Dr. Rawson was summoned to attend a deck hand named William Lee. aged 27 years, a native of England, who had received injuries to his'pelvis. The Wainui had just left Picton when Lee . was , walking along the starboard alleyway aft and he failed to motice that the cover of a bunker hole had been left off. Ha fell heavily with one leg in the hole. Lee, who was sufffering great pain, was taken to his quarters and rendered first aid- Thougil Leo was recommended to be transferred to the hospital. by Dr. Rawson, ha preferred to remain aboard and expects to be about again shortly.
