CANADA AND NEW ZEALAND
TORONTO EXHIBITION \ PROJECT
Mr. J. P. Murray, assistant director of the National Canadian Exhibition, at Toronto, had a cordial interview with the Prime Minister yesterday in regard to his suggestion about the representation of New Zealand at the Canadian Exhibition. The matter was fjjlly gone into, and Mr. MasBey proved a heartfelt sympathiser with the project. Mr. Murray states he is convinced that the Prime Minister believes that if it is possible to take the matter up comprehensively it would bo in the best interests of both countries. He is delighted with the consideration shown to him by Mr. Massey, and feels considerably strengthened in his desire to see the project through. According to “Who’s WEo in Canada,” Mr. Murray was born in Limerick, Ireland, in 1852, of Scotch and Irish payentage, and arrived in Canada two years later. In 1867 ho entered his father’s business in Toronto, founded the Toronto Carpet Co. in 1891. took an active part in founding the Canadian Manufacturers’ Association in 1899, founded the Toronto Employers’ Association in 1902. was Canadian secretary of the British Weights and Measures Association, was a founder of the Toronto Empire Club, and a warm supporter of all kinds of athletics. Mr. Murray left for the South by the s.s. Maori last night.
