Rebels destroyed by fire the finest fourteenth century mansion in Ireland, Castle Hacket, including Waterloo relics. The owner. Colonel Bernard, was absent. Miss Comerford, the. most notorious Republican woman in Dublin, has been arrested in Loughlinstown on a charge of possessing a revolver. She is liable to the death penalty. —Aus -N.Z. Cable Assn. POST OFFICE RAIDED London, January 8. Two men raided the Post Office at Ballyconnell, County Cavan, smashed the instruments, rifled tho till, and were opening the safe, when two Free State officers arrived, and shot one of the raiders dead. —Aus.-N.Z Cable Assn. DESERTERS FROM NATIONAL ARMY SHOT (Rec. January 10, 0.5 a.m.) London, January 9. Five soldiers who deserted from the National Army were shot to-day after trial by court-martial. On December 11 tho men were captured at Kildare. in a fight in which a National soldier was killed and two were wounded. The five men executed apparently deserted during the fight, taking their arms and ammunition with them. —“The limes.”
