FOR KEEPING COMMON GAMING HOUSE

Auckland, January 9.

The police raided the billiard saloon of William Alexander Spiers, 46 Newton Road, last night, and secured' a quantity of betting materials. Spiers pleaded guilty to-day to keeping a common gaming-house, and he said he was only operating in a small way. The Magistrate: “You people begin in a small way and you grow. You are fined £100.”
