POSSIBILITY OF PURCHASE BY THE CITY

Under the charter for the operation of the Kelbum Tramway the City Council has the right to purchase the line at the end of seven .yearly periods. One of these periods will end during next year, and the .City Council is considering the possibility of purchase. There are actuarial investigations to be made into the capital value of the line and the conditions of purchase, along with other investigations as to renewals and improvements which must be made.

Some weeks ago the council asked for reports from bffioers on th© proposal to purchase. Councillor J. Burns, asked, at a meeting of the council last night, whether tho reports were available, but the Mayor replied that the officers had been so pressed with other work that they had not yet been able -to undertake this task. »
