GET READY

FOR THE MANGA HAO POWER,' Councillor L. M'Kenzie is of the opinion that it is time for tho City Council to begin to make preparations for the hydro-electric .power that is due from Mangahao in a couple of years. Ho has addressed the following’ letter to the Town Clerk on- the point: “Dear Str,—l notice by newspaper reports that there is a doubt existing in the minds of some of the members of the local bodies adjoining the city with reference to the future of the hydroelectric supply, and on account of these reports the boroughs adjacent to the Hutt Boroughs are amalgamating for tho purpose of setting up a special board of control. I respectfully request you to bring’ the matter before tho Wellington City Council, in order that it may be discussed and councillors made conversant with Hie future proposals and works to be carried on in the above connection.

"It seems to me that it is a matter that urgently affects the future policy of tho council, and it has also a very marked bearing on the future of our Evans Bay scheme, as the ratepayers were led to believe that we were erecting ft plant out there to cope with the very objects that are set forth by the l>oroughs of the Hutt mid those adjoining. My object in making this request is that I consider the time is now importune for the whole question to he opened up. and, if delayed, may cause serious interference with any Jul lire policy that, may be needed for the- City of Wellington.
