SHIPPING DEPRESSION
DECLINE IN WHEAT FREIGHTS. London, October 6. Owing to the absence of other, business, some shipowners are preferring to run unprofitable' to laying up the ships. Australian wheat freights have considerably declined. The owners declare that fills, bookings at AV estern Australia, with ballast outwards, is unprofitable. - Nevertheless one ship to-day was booked for AVcstern Australia at 575. 6d., and three ships for South Australia at 605., with a Melbourne option at 62s s<l. The Australian Press Agency is informed that the whole of tho new crop ought to be lifted at between 58s. (kl. and 625. (id. Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
