AWARDS TO INVENTORS
MONEY SPENT ON AN AEROPLANE ENGINE. (Rec. October 7, 5.5 p m.) London, October 6. The Royal Commission on awards to inventors cossidered the claim of Walton Motors Limited for £609,000 on account of aero engines. Eleven thousand Dragonflies were ordered, and only one thousand delivered, and none were used in the war. Sir Gordon Hewart said that two millions sterling of the taxpayers’ money were spent in a vain effort to make the Dragonfly engine practical.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
