UNEMPLOYMENT
TRADES COUNCIL’S OPINION. By Telegraph —Press Association. Dunedin, October 7. The Otago Trades Council, while willing to ask unions tn donate to tho relief works fund, expresses tho opinion that the question of unemployment is a national one, and urges tho Government to take Immediate steps to deal with it by organising industry in such a way as to provide reproductive works for all workers, failing which the Government should levy taxation on similar lines to that in England for the purpose of providing sustenance for persons unable to obtain employment.
