KING’S THEATRE. This week’s attraction at the King’s Theatre, Constance Talmadge in “A Temperamental Wife,” has been drawing crowded houses. It is a bright and vivacious picture of the type that suits Mies Talmadge admirably. Larry Semon, in "The Sportsman,” keeps the audience in laughter from start to finish. Friday's chango of programme will be Charles Rav in the first of his own productions, "Peaceful Valley,” in which he takes tho part of Hosiah Howe, a hard-work-ing farmer lad of happy disposition, with a widowed mother to provide for. It is stated that in this role he has contributed to the screen a character that ranks os one of the most noteworthyachievements of the silent drama. On the same programme is "Snooky,” the wonderful monkey, in a comedy that pleases both young and old, "A Trayful of Trouble.” EMPRESS THEATRE? 1 The great fire picture "Still Alarm" will be screened for the last time to-day. To-morrow’s offering will be a mystery romance. "The House of Intrigue." It is described as an absorbing drama of society and underworld life, starring Foggy May as an actress out of work and ready to commit suicide, so keen is her desperation at her non-suc-oess. She ignorantly allies herself with a *\nd of crooks, but realising she is a party to theft, has a revulsion of feeling, and holds up the gang. This new etar is supported by a notable cast, including Mignon Anderson and Donald M'Donald. EVERYBODY’S THEATRE. The comedy "Oh, Boy!” which has had an excellent run at Everybody’s Theatre this week, terminates tho season this evening. The whole programme is of a specially pleasing character. The feature of the change will bo the Blackton special production "My Husband’s Other Wife.” starring Sylvia Bremer and an all-star cast. QUEEN’S THEATRE. Sir .1. M. Barrie, the famous playwright, is responsible for the story of the production, advertised! to commence nt tho Queen’s Theatre to-morrow. It is "The Twelve Pound Look,” a popular comedy-drama, in which the originality, whimsicality, humour, satire—all that have given Barrie his great reputation—of the well-known playwright find a full and realistic outlet. Ths second half of the programme comprises "Angel Esquire,” the peculiar title given to a novel by its author, Edgar Wallace, who is recognised as one of tho world’s lead- , ing writers of sensational melodramatic fiction. As tho title conveys - nothing it must bo mentioned the Angel Enquire is really a Scotland Yard detective, who is called in to help a young lady to I obtain possession of a fortune, a great part of which had actually been stolen from her father. HEIFETZ COMING. Definite dates have now been fixed for the appearance in New Zealand of Jascha Heifetz, the distinguished violinist. He will play in Auckland on I August 3,6, and 10, and in Wellington I on August 17, 22, and 25 (at the Town Hall).
