FORECAST AND SUMMARY AT 4 P.M. YESTERDAY. Present indications are for westerly winds, strong to gale, especially in and southward of Cook Strait. Expect increasing cloudiness and heavy rain on the West floast and southern districts, with a falling barometer every, where. A small rise took place In the barometer tn the south last night, and an improvement has taken place in tho weather. Strong westerly winds have ruled and the storm is by no means over.
