At the annual meeting of the Canterton Volunteer Fire Brigade the following officers were elected: Captain I. W. Jackson: First Lieutenant, R. Smith; Second Lieutenant, J. Lenihan: Foreman, J. Leponski; custodian, 11. W. Tarplee; Bocreary and treasurer, R. Smith; committee to act with executive officers, H. Matson, M. King, R. Wakclin. Tho retiring officers were accorded a vote of thanks, and one new member wns elected. Tho death occurred on AVrdnesday of Mrs. Relxicca Marion Wallis, wife of Mr. Henry D. Wallis, of Carterton. Deceased was a daughter of Mrs. Elizabeth Bnirstow. of Clareville. Prior to their departure for Wellington, Mr. and Mrs. M. H. Kondall were entertained by their Featherston friends and presented with tokens of esteem Reference was made to Mr. Kendall’s good work while in Featherston, particularly during tho epidemic.
