8 — ■ NEARLY ALL FIT FOR CHRISTMAS LEAVE. Draft No. 200, comprising 791 officers and men, cleared from hospitals in England, were lauded at the Glasgow Wharf yesterday afternoon. The general appear, once of the draft was good, the men, having benefited enormously as the result of the long sea voyage. The health of the draft may be judged from the fact that of the 791 officers and men on board 780 have been certified as 'being fit for Christinas leave. The remainder ava three hospital cases, three cot cases, and five other cases who will 1)8 fccommodat. Ed at Featherston camp. There- had been two cases of mumps and eight or »ten cases of mild influenza, but all had recovered savo one, who would be kept under observation in hospital. Yesterday morning the Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke) visited the vessel in the stream, and on behalf of the citizens of Wellington formally welcomed .the returned draft back to their native land. They had done their part nobly in the great struggle, which had terminated so happily for the Empire, and he hoped that theV would all be shortly restored to complete health and strength. Cigarettes were distributed among the men with a free hand. i The majority of the men belong to \ Wellington and HawVe's Bay. Only a few of them belong to Auckland and the South Island. A draft of Auckland men is due back there on Tuesday next.
