UNSUPPORTED STATEMENTS
ARBITRATION COURT PROCEDURE OBJECTED TO. It is understood that a protest pay be made by some of the' trade unions against the practice of ,tho Court. of Arbitration in admitting for its consideration documents the details of which are not sworn to on 1 oath. An instance of the practice objected to is said to have occurred during the hearing of the Wellington storemen's dispute a t week ago, when the employers' agent' put in a statement as to tho' wages received by the workers. . The document put.in wa« a list stating that so many men received so much a week, others so much more, and so on. The unions say that they have no opportunity of examining a statement 'that they have not seen before the moment it is handed in to the Court, and they object to the Court taking notice of statenients which are- not supported by evidence and which are not sworn to by oven a single witnees. It is possible, therefore, that some step may be takan with a view to inducing the Court to depart from the practice of admitting such matter.
