Owing to the difficulty of'getting an officer at the salary which the business of the office warranted, the postal authorities had decided to close the post office lit Whakataki, near CasAlepoint. The settlers interested met'andt undertook to subscribe £50 par annum towards the salary of a suitable officer, and communicated with Mr. J; T. M. Hornsby, member for the district, asking to have the post office reiimtatcd; .Mr. Hornsby accordingly took action, asking for £1 for £1 subsidy-on tho siibscri]>ti()ji, and that a reasonable salary bo nuule m> so tliat posijibly a married returned soldier could takeup the position. The Minister am-eed, mid the post office will be kept open. Mr. 'Osgood's suggestion as to llie inauguration of suggestion boqks was approved. The amount fixed for allotment of stakes at the December meeting was £1440. The appointment of assistant custodian was held over for the Course Committee's consideration. Mr. TC. Ij. M'Tjarcn, ■ formerly of Fountain, Carter ton, has been appointed assistant stock acent with Messrs. Dalgef.y and Co. at Mastorton.
