WELLINGTON CENTRAL
THE COMING BY-ELECTION. The Wellington Central by-election is creating a good deal of interest just now.' As the late ill". Fletcher was a momber of the Liberal Party, the choice of the candidato to havo the support of tlio National Government rests with the Leader of the Liberal Party, who, in the absence of Sir Joseph Ward ficrn New Zealand, is the Hon. W. D. S. > Mac Donald. A number of names havo been mentioned as those of possible candidates, and there is evidenco that Mr. Mac Donald has any number of candidates from whom to make his choice. He is not in a position yet, however, to make any announcement, and the chances are that none will be i-iade _ until the end. of the week. Tlio Labour Party havo still <o tako ballots to determine who shall t:?rry the Labour banner. Mr. M. J. Reardon was asked to allow his name to go to the ballot, but he has declined. The two candidates regarded as having tlia best chances are Messrs. P. Eraser and J. Read. The election will be on the boundaries as for tlio election of 1914. The roll is now open for inspection, and , electors who are in doubt as to whe-i ther they aro on the roll would bo well advised to make inquiry. A sipj plementary roll is now being compiled.
