MAGISTRATE'S COURT
if . A BREACH OF THE PEACE. Mr. W. G. Riddell, S.M., presided over yesterday's sittings of the Magistrate's Court. Isaac Fawcett pleanded guilty to hav ing committed a breach of the peace in Manners Street, and was fined 4fls., in default acYen days' imprisonment. De-tective-Sergeant Scott stated that at the comer of Cuba and Manners Streets ho saw accused attack a man who was not in a fit condition to defend himself. Fawcett asked His Worship' to send him into ■ the Army, as ho had been waiting about to find a berth on a ship, but without result. "You are dealt with," remarked Mr. Riddell. "Stand down." A soldier named John Richardson was fined £S, in default 1i days' imprisonment, for having'used obscene language, in Ghuznee Rlreet, and for having resisted arrest he was fined 205., with tho alternative of spending seven days in gaol. On a charge of drunkenness be was convicted and discharged. Catherine Trcloer 'was fined 10?., in default seven days' imprisonment, for insobriety. Sarah Ann Hooker was deemed to be an habitual inebriate, and was ordered to bo sent to Pakntoa for a year. A first offending inebriate had his bail, 205., estreated.
