RESULT OF INCREASED HOSPITAL LEVY. Consequent upon the negative conference between the delegates of the Wellington Hospital and _ Charitable Aid Board and representatives of the local contributing bodies, the full amount of the levy demanded b.T the Ixjnrd has to be found by the Wellington City Council, who will call upon the ratepayers forthwith to pay tho extra levy required. The hospital and charitable aid levy last year amounted to n 1-M. in tho £ on tho annual value (G per cent, of tho capital value), whereas the new rate now to m levied will b= 'ild. in the .£—an. it crease , of 1 1-6. Last year the amount paid under this heading was .£10,572: the amount to be paid this year, is i>23.051.
