THE EFFICIENCY BOARD
SUBJECTS UNDER CONSIDERATION
The Efficiency Board lias had several interviews with the Acting-Prime Minister lately. The board has been discussing a number of interesting subjects, but not sufficient ileliniteness lios been reached regarding any of them to make a public statement possible. One of tho points is that of the much-discussed last mun on the farm. On this, however, a statement is to made shortly. _It is understood that no radical change m w - icy is proposed. Other matters _ with which the board has been concerning itself are wheat production, timber supplies (including tho special case of white pine), the control of businesses of men going away, repatriation questions, and the Government's most recent scheme tor national service. By far tho most important of them all is the nationnl ser-. vice question. All thnt the board seems to have done up to date is to make .some sort of preparations for the conferences which will have to be held with the inI crested narties bpfore nnything is done. It will be necessary, if the conferences are to be a success, to give them somethins to deliberate unon, ond the board has,"it is understood, been considering tho matter from this point of view.
