ST. PATRICK'S CADETS

. AN INFORMAL EEVIEW. I" Aii informal miow of tlic St. Patrick's College Cadets was mado by Lieut.-Col-onel .1. L. Sleeman, I.Cr.S., Director of Military Training, at midday yesterday. Colon?l Sleeman ivas accompanied by Lieutenant E. J. lleoves,, M.0., in command of the cadets, but now seconded for service with tho Expeditionary l'orce. Lieutenant Chapman now 'has cliargo of tho hoys. '.L'liero wore some 125 on parade, and the_y mado a good showing, though 6omo liavo not yet beon ablo to obtain their -uniforms, and there is a scarcity of rifles, oven of an old-fashioned pattern. They wero inspected by Colonel Sleeman and afterwards were put through a Ijttlo squad drill by their own n.c.o.'s. . ' After the parade, Colonel Sleeman addressed tho boys, complimenting them upon their neatness and appearance. He emphasised the need for closo attention to instructions during tho cadet period since it was essential that the Territorials should bo supplied with, good officers, non-commissioned officers, and privates, and theso could only como from cadet companies which were keen. Every cadet should have before him the ideal of commissioned rank—there was no reason why ho should not attain it. He mentioned us important points tho training in steadiness as a great factor in discipline, and told tho junior n.c.o.'s that tliey should not be content with giving orders lo their sections, but should carefully correct faults.
