THE MOTOR-BOAT PATROL SERVICE
Sir,—Pleaso allow me to express _ my thanks to the Hon. Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Defence for his generous recognition of the manner in whichour boys from this Dominion are serving their country in the hazardous motor-boat patrol service. Very lime ol their doings are, for obvious reasons, n.lowed to be mario pnhtlic, but admirals of H.Jf. Navy are not in the habit of specially commending any section ot the naval service, unless their services are of a meritorious nalwe. I cordially agree with both Ministers, as ronorl-ed in your issue r.f. this mornin? that New Zealand has not adequately contributed to the upkeep, of our Navy. May I respectfully suggest that in a small'way this opinkr: can easily be reduced to practice by .the Government recognising that the single men in the pntrol service have t-qiial claims upon the land of I heir birth, ae the married men from New Zealand who have joined the patrol, and that the Imperial wv of these single men should Ik subsidised by New Zealand to orvng them into line with their warned comrades m the patrol service and our military, forces.-! am, etc.,
Petone, June 4,
