The Australians re- .. captured the village, but the situation is somewhat obscure, as the reports rather conflict. Ail agree that'the carnage was, frightful. Ifr. Percival Phillips says he has never seen the German dead so thick upon the battlefield. The Australian attack is described as a piece of skilful and \laring generalship. Elsewhere on the battlefront the- situation is jirac(ically unchanged. Further accounts of the naval exploit at Zeebrugge , and Oslend give a closer picture of the gallant lauding. There is no doubt .about the damage to the mole at Zeebrugge. . , ■ ■ '
