GREAT CROWDS AT SHOW AND RACES
POOH HESPOiNSB TO EECIIUITING APPEALS. Sydney, April 1. Friday's show attendance was 109,-000-a record—aud Saturday's' 70,000. The attendance at the races was in the vicinity of (30,000. Money was 1 plentiful and the lotulisator investments wera largely increased. The macliinos were unable to keep pace with the business. .Recruiting appeals on the show grounds and racecourse met with the poorest response, and were practically lriiitless. Appeals at the various theatres for subscriptions to the War Loan met with a splendid response on Saturday night, £43,000 being forthcoining at Her Majesty's Theatre in a few minutes.—Press Assn.
