|BY GLEN'COE.I Owners and trainers should bear in mind that acceptances for lite Wanganui meeting oloso on Monday night. After his failures at' .hawera it was no surprise to find. Colorado struck out of the Wancanui Cup. The Frisco gelding ran unplaced in both welter handicaps M tho Egmont meeting, and on that, form ho could have no chance in a race iiko tho Wanganui Cup. The Hastings owner, Mr. W.. .Richmond, has leased tho Demosthenes—Marty two-year-old filly from Mr. W. J. Douglas. Tho youngster is a half-sister' to llyilus, and will bo trained by Ij. Wilson. The well-known Jlastings trainer, J. W. Cameron, is at present, in camp at Trentham. Sea Lord is in work again at Hastings, under tho care of W Thompson, who was for many years associated with the late D. Munn. Tho jumpers, Golden Glade and St ; Elmn, arc again in regular work . at. Hastings. The pair appear to be greatly benefited by the spell they had, and should bo well forward by the tiuio tho winter season comes on. The new owner of Silver Tongue is Mr T. E. Whelch, of Waipukurau. Silver Tongue has been bought to lake the place of Multiply, who broke down in the Wei" lington Cup. • In the absence of 0./ Emerson, who Is still in tho hospital, the Yaldhurst horses at Hawera were ridden by H. Gray. According to returned visitors from the Egmont fixture, Estland was very Bore when ho raced at Hawera. and Tie may not' be- able to contest the Wanganui Guineas. In the" Hawera Stakeß ho was tailed off for six furlongs but he then warmed to his work and won decisively at the finish. Before leaving for Sydney Mr E. J. Watt gave T. Quinlivan a preEcnt of the brood mare La JJotto, dame .of Noctuiform and Midnight Sun, both New Zealand Cun winners. Mr. Wntt. was verv pleased with liis filly by Mountain Knight fro'n Culprit, and he intend* racing her In Australia. After returning from the Hawera meet irig Judge Hart-gill was taken ill. and he is at present confined to his room. It Is probable that lie may have to undergo a slight operation. After winning the Egmont Cup Chortle got a great reception from the crowd who recognised th» sterling performance of the Multifid gilding. S.'tteid had him in the rear of the field for most, of the journey, and when tho straight was reached only oue horse was behind the top-weight. This accounts for the short price paid by tho Demosthenes filly in the open snrint on the first dav of the Egmonf, meeting. There will be. a lot of interest in the decision (if tho St. Georgo's Slake' at Caulfield to-day, and the orack mare, Desert Gold, whe is to race in the interests of the patriotic funds of the Dominion, will have a host of well-wishers. Apparently the mare will strip at her bests for on Thursday she '■ galloped a very smart mile. Sasanof and Almo are under orders to race at Wanganui, hut Sweet Corn is a doubtful starter Since racing at Trentham Croesus has pleased his trainer and he is booked, to ••nee in t.hA Flvine Handicap at Wi'iganui, in which h» will be ridden by B.
