DISAPPOINTMENT FOR WELLINGTON. According to ;the official records, there- was to be last night "a total eclipse of the moon (visible throughout New Zealand)." Tho eclipse doubtless' happened in accordance with the calculations of the learned people who anticipate such events. But it was not visible in Wellington. The clouds lay thick over .the city the whole evening. The eclipse was timed to begin at 6.23 p.m., and to end at nine minutes after midnight. The period of totality was from 9.8 p.m. until 9.25 p.m.
