CARGO FOR AUCKLAND; •Instead of leaving Lyttelton on Thursday for Wellington and Auckland, the To Anau will sail direct from Lyttelton to tho northern port. The Union Company adviso that Wellington cargo for Auckland will be taken by the Kaitun'a, which will Bail to-day. The Patcena will sail at noon to-day for Picton only, and at 10 p.m. to-day for Nelson only, in place of her one trip to both ports as usual. To-morrow, at noon, the Mapourika, sailing lor Nehon and West Ooast ports, will include Picton in her running. 11l is morning the Jolm will arrWe from Wanganui to load general cargo for Dunedin. To-night the vessel will sail direct for that port. Tho Kaituna will arrivo this morning with coal from Westport. A part of her cargo will be discharged here, the remainder being for Auckland, for which port she will sail to-night, taking general cargo. At noon to-day the Rosamond will get away for Bluff and Dunedin.
Tho Maori, on arrival at Wellington yesterday morning, berthed at the Taranaki Street Wharf. Cargo will bo loaded and passengers will embark at the Ferry Wharf to-night as usual. Owing to the heavy sea at tho Heads on Saturday night, the Defender, which had loft port for Hokitika, had to return.
The Kahu arrived in port yesterday morning with wool from Castlopoint. where she haa bqen delaynd for three days. On Thursday she will sail for Akitio and Napier, ticking general cargo and water pipos. Tho Ripple left Gisborne at midnight on Saturday for Wellington, via coast muttons, and is due here to-morrow. On Friday she will sail for Napier and Gisborne, taking general cargo. Soundings taken on the Wostport bar on Friday morning establish?*! u> record. Tho moan depth of water was 20ft. 7in. It is understood (states the Motueka, "Star") that eipert advico is against any attempt to raise and refloat tho ketch Result. which foundered in Torrent Bay some dayß ago with a full load of coal for Motneka. The vessel has slipped off the reef on which sho was resting, and*-now lies in 20ft. of water at low tide.
Tho crewß on the Kama and ICokiri will bo paid! off to-day, and that of the Komata on the vessel's arrival at Wellington to-morrow from Westport. Tho departure of tho Kowhai for Greymouth on Saturday was postponed, aB there was a shortage m the crow. If the number of the crew cannot be completed to-day tho articles will bo closed. It is unlikely that ike ol.eataer/vlll resume running until after tho New Year. The Kittawa passed tho Wellington Heads at 1.30 ti.tn. yesterday bound for Greymouth, where sho will load for Wellington. flic Wakatu, which will sail on Wednesday night for Kaikoura and Lyttelton, will receivo cargo to-day until 5 p.m. Cargo for Patea will bo received to-day until 4 p.m. by tho Waverley. Until 3 p.m. to-day tho Blenheim will rcceive cargo for Havelook and Pelorus Sound. Sho will aail at midnight on Wednesday. Tho Putiki will arrive this afternoon direct from Oama.ro. On Friday sho will sail for Timaru and Duuedin, taking general cargo. Cargo for Fo*ton will be received all day to-day by the Queen of the South. Messrs. Wright, Stephenson and 00. h3ve received advico that the Anchor Company's Waimca will not arrive at Wellington until Wednesday, January 2, from Nelsou. She will sail tho same day for that port and the West Coast. From Greymouth the Blackball collier Ngatoro Is at Wellington to-morrow with a cargo of coal. ,
The Corinua ia due at Wellington on Friday from New Plymouth and will leave for her usual southern ports of call in the evening. ■ Repairs to the ship Dartford are being l carried out as speedily as possible at Port Ohalmers. A large number of boilermakers, carpenters, joiners, sailmakers, and other workmen are busily engaged in the work of refitting the vessel. The Dartford will be docked after the New Year. The scow Era. which was used in con. nection with the carrying out of the breakwater contract at Gisborne, and which has for several months past been lying near the Kaiti Bridge, is being dismantled. The Tauranga Rimu Company have purchased the vessel, and the masts and above-deck fiitiugs are being removed, so that the vessel will then be utilised for the purpose of shipping timber at Tauranga. The Era will be towed to Tauranga by one of the Richardson boats.
