The hot, dry spell of weather came to an end yesterday with a gradually clouding sky nnd heavy rain. Tho downpour commenced in tho morning, but the weather cleared about noon, but not for long, and by evening it was raining hard. Present indications are for strong westerly winds, changing to the south, north of. New Plymouth and Napier, and high south-easterly winds elsewhere. .Unsettled and cloudy -weather may bo expected, with fog in parts and rain generally.
