Wellington Red Cross Shop.

The ladies of the Mercer Street Red Oross Depot will be in charge of the Wellington Ited Cross Shop on Lambton Quay to-day, and every effort has boon made to secure a good supply of goods of all descriptions, including lamb, fresh vegetables from Porirua and the Upper Hutt, fresh eggs, chutney, plum puddings, cakes of all kinds the daintiest of fancy work, as well as novelties that are likely to be great]y appreciated as Christmas gifts, flowers (which will as usual be sold by Miss Cooper and Miss Moss), and dolicious sweets made by Miss Veitch. This will bo the last occasion -upon which the Indies <f the depot will take a day at the shop, as they are so much involved' in other organisations that also take a day at the shop. _ Mrs. Moorhouse is treasurer, and will be very glad to receive donations and cheques for the cause of the wounded.

TEe arrangements mado by the. Kailway Department to attach to. the Wel-lington-Auckland express trains a car for the nso of ladies only are now complete, and the service will be inaugurated on Sunday night from Auckland and on Monday mid-day from Wellington.

In acknowledging a vote of thanke at the annual meeting of the "Free Kindergarten Union, Mrs. Grady referred to the beautiful doll's house to be balloted for at 12 o'clock nt the Bed Cross Rooms, and pointed out that an ideal site for an ideal doll's house was the new Kindergarten School about to be erected. All present agreed that if the lucky winner should prove to he one of them the doll's house should most certainly go to tho Kindergarten Union, and the hope was expressed that whoever wins it would generously give it to be a delight to the little children for many years to como
