ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
MOTOR-CYCLIST SEVERELY INJURED. A serious accident occurred in Moxlinm Avenue last evening at 5.15, when Mr. John Clark Robertson, an engineer, residing at Hataitai, was thrown from his motor-bicycle, Mr. Robertson was riding towards his home at Hataitai when the machine skidded and threw him heavily, his head striking the footpath. He was picked up in an unconscious condition, and it was apparent that ho had received seriouß injury. He was at once conveyed to tho Hospital, where it was found that his skull was badly fractured. At an early hour this morning his condition was reported to be critical. Mr. Rob. ortson is the third son of Mr. David i Robertson, of the Nioenix Foundry.
A man named Oscar Padwin fell from a cart at Silverstrenm late yesterday afternoon, and received injuries to an eye and shoulder. He was admitted to the Wellington Hospital last night, but is not in a serious condition.
BUSHFELLER killed. By Telecronh—Press Association. Blenheim, November 26. Michael Ryan, 36 years of age, single, died at Blenheim Hospital yesterday as the result of injuries sustained while bushfelling in the Opouri Valley on Saturday. A tree fell, breaking both legs and one arm. FATAL ACCIDENT AT A DAIRY. Auckland, November 26. Joseph Stones died yesterday from injuries sustained on November 12, when he was found on the floor of Stonex Bros.' dairy, Newton. DROWNING ACCIDENT. Thames, November 26. Yesterday, while fishing from the rocks near Thames, the tide rose, surrounding a rock on which were seated Percy Baker and Alfred Houghton. The latter 'swmi ashore, but Baker, essaying to follow, struck his head while diving, and was rendered unconscious, and was drowned. Ho was a member of a well-known and highlyesteemed family of Thames. One brother is Director of the School of Mines and another is at the front. Deceased leaves a widow. HORSE-TRAINER FOUND , DROWNED. I Nelson, November 26. Tho body of Charles Berkett, a wellknown horseman and trainer, for many years in the employ of the late HenryRedwood, was found in the Wairoa River at Appleby yesterday. Deceased had been missing since Wednesday. At tho inquest a verdict of found drowned was returned.
INQUEST IN DROWNING CASE.
By Telegraph—l'resß Association. Timaru, November 26. At the inquest on Alfred Beswick, wlio.se body was found among the rocks at Dashing .Point yesterday, a verdict was returned of death by drowning.
CYCLIST INJURED
Timaru, November 26. ■Tames MacGregor, who came to-day from Dunedin. to take charge of the Nciv Zealand TJxpress Company's business, was cycling with a friend round the town, when his cycle skidded on some loose shingle. MacGregor foil heavily on his forehead, was picked ni> unconscious, and taken to the Hospital. He partly recovered consciousness. but went off again. No serious consequences are anticipate!.
