THE CAMPAIGN IN PALESTINE APPROACHING JERUSALEM 10-days reports make it clear that the Italians are gallantly resist- • ing the Austro-German invasion, and for the time at least are holding the enemy, both on the Piave line and in his outflanking attack from the Trentino. General Allenbys troops are making rapid headway in Palestine. A strong Turkish army is retiring beaten and demoralised, and the British are astride the railway from Jaffa to Jerusalem, cutting the enemy's railway communications with the latter city. Further enemy at-, tacks hare been defeated in Flanders. A'German retreat on that front is predicted. There is a continued absence of reliable news from Russia. . \
