ELECTORAL BOUNDARIES
NORTH ISLAND COMMISSIONERS' WORK COMPLETED. Tho Electoral Boundaries Commissioners for the North Island have now practically completed their work; having heard and dealt with all the objections raised to the proposed new boundaries. Most of tho objections concerned throe hotels in the Auckland province, which had been inoluded in tho "dry" areas of Eden and Ohinemuri. The report of tho, Commissioners has not yet been presented, but it is understood that these casea wore not difficult to deal with. The' hotels have been restored to thoir former electorates. It is understood also thai) tho demand of tho peoplo of Taumarunui that the narao of Waimarino electorate should bo changed to. Taumarunui since this town has been included in it-has' not been conceded, for the reason that the greater portion of the district as now constituted is that part which was formerly included' in the electorate of Waimarino. A similar demand was mado by the people of Dannevirke. They claim-, ed that their town, which was formerly the biggest town in the electorate of Waipawn, is now the biggest in tho electorate of Pahiatua, and they asked that the name of tho electorate be changed to Dannevirke. There were objections to this, one of them being that whereas Pahiatua is in tho centre of the district, Dannovirko is on the fringe of it. It is understood that this TCinest also has been refused by tho Commissioners. The South Island Commissioners have ' much moro complicated tasks, and it is not expected that they will complete thoir labours for soino time yet.
