The Wellington Steamship Company announce that as the Baden Powell was delayed at New Plymouth she -will not sail to-day for Napier.

Tho John arrived yesterday afternoon from liyttclton and will sail this afternoon for Wangamii.

The Breeze srill arrive. to-morrow from Lyttelton and ivill sail on Monday for Wanganui. The Kamo will sail to-day for Greymouth to load for Wellington. The Calm arrived yesterday from Wanganui, and will sail to-day for Lyttelton, Blulf, ]>uncdin, and Timaru.

The Blenheim is due this morning- from TTavelock. iAt noon to-day she will sail for Havelock, Pelorus, and Kcncpuru Soundß.

Tho scow Hazel Itepton is waiting in port until a full crew is obtained. In the meantime her future movements are undecided.

Between June 8 and July 17 of this year more than 100 steamers, of which 63 are British, woro added to Lloyd's "Shipping ■Register." Most of theso vessels are of largo tonnage. Tho rate of construction is understood to bo increasing rapidly.

Captain B. Ri Probcrt, who has hold the position of dredge mastor in charge of the Gisborne dredgo Maui sines the vessel's arrival some years ago, retired from the Harbour Board's employ on Wednesday. Tho board have decided to promote Mr. J. Miller, chief engineer to the position of dredge master. Mt. P. E. Woods and Mr. ft. Gibson, mate and second mato respectively of the Hazel Repton, have come ashore. Mr. J. M'Murrich has joined the Mararoa as fourth engineer in place of Mr, W. A. Cairns. Mr. T. M. flwedc, extra officer on the ■Wairaih has come ashore. The Wootton arrived last night from Lyttelton. and will return to that port at ' noon to-day. The Kahika, bound for Lyttelton, passed Farewell Spit at 10.30 a.m. yejitcrday.
