The Sew Zealand Loan and Mercantile 'Agency Co. report :-At liaumai on Tuesday a fair:yarding of cattle came forward, which sold well; young cattle in particular were in demand. Small yearling heifers, £3 17s. 6d.; forward cows, £8 10s.; yearling.buUs. £4 195., £6 ss:; 18-month heifers, £6 Ids.; sHDcins-heifers,, £8 155.. £9 155... £10. £10 ifs. 6n\. £11. Stock ; Departments Pahiatua; branch, report on their WoodviUe Bale, held on Monday,! as follows :-At this sale we offered tho bulk of the yardjne (principally in sheep) and have to report in all caseß where sales were effected -remarkably good prices, and for tho time of the year we topped, the market for ; h/>2gets-a' lino of 50 realising 395. loung cattle were in execptionaly good demand, and vendors in future would bo well advised to bring their entries forward and face market values, rather than in some cases accepting paddock prices, which have been' considerably exceeded at auction. The 'following sales were effected:—6s nogcets, 325. 3d.; 49 hoggets, on account of J. O'Neil 395.; 1 fat cow, £12 155.; 2 fat cows, «9 15s'.; 1 fat bullock. £16 17b. 6d.; yearling ■- steers, •£4 12s. 6d.. £6 17s. 6d., to £9 • 3s. At their weekly Pahiatua stock sale, held at Mangahao yards, the firm offered o. fair vardins of sheen and a Bmall entry of'cattle to a fair attendance of buyers.
Although sheep were in very good demand, yet a fair amount of our entry was passed in at auction. The bulk of the entry was Quitted at good prices. Young cattle in all oases exceeded vendors' reserves, as also good springing heifers, and the auctioneers advise that vendors in future would be well advised to bring stock of this class forward to the market.
