"Charley's Aunt" Club.

Las? evening the fortnightly gathering of the "Charley's Aunt" Club was held in the rooms in Courtenay Place. Sir. Matt Carr presided. Contributing to the very enjoyable progammo were the club orchestra with selections; Miss E. Miller, Mrs. Buckeridge, Mr. A. Woodward, Mr; C. Moore, with songs; Corporal Head* land and Miss Ina Macclonald, musical monologues; Mrs. Buckeridge and Mr. Albert Russell, duet; Miss Winifred Churchill and Miss Dorothy Saunders a dance, "The.Moth and tho Flame." After supper had been handed around an American one act play, "The Avenger," was given, and was a particularly wellacted performance throughout. The characSrs were taken as follow:—"Mrs. Callam-'.n," Miss Mabel Hardinge-Malt-by; "Miss Ethel Clayton," Miss Ruby Scott; "John Hnrrelson," Mr. V. M'Kenzie; and "Tim Daley," Mr. W. W. Crawford. Mr. Prank Thomas, hon. musical director, played the accorapanimonts, and a very enjoyable evening was brought to an end by the singing of the National Anthem. i The wedding took place in the Presbyterian Church, Feilding, on Tuesday, of Private G. H. M'Dermid, who served for five months on Gallipoli and six months in Palestine, to Miss Agnes Rankin, of Apiti. Private M'Dermid will leave for Prance with the Specialist Company (machine-gun section) of the 35th Reinforcements. -, Army Nursing Sister E. M. Goldsmith, who returned to New Zealand as matron on a transport which arrived recently, is home on furlough after two years of active service, fifteen months of which were spent in Egypt and the remainder at Wauon-on-Thaines. England. Mrs. Boden, hon. secretary of the Crippled Soldiers' • and Sailors' Hostel Committee, lias received a handsome donation from the Masterton Patriotic Shop Committee of M% lis. Id., the net takings at the Ehop on a day sot apart for that fund. Mesdames 0. S. Cooper and R. 0. Smith were the joint hon. secretaries, and are to be heartily congratulated upon the result of their efforts. Another pleasing donation was made by the children of the Cambridge Terrace Sunday School (per Miss Phillips) of threo guineas which had been collected for their annual prizes. The ladies of the Patriotic Cake Room thank the following donors of, cakes, subscriptions, etc.:—Mesdames Smitton, Heywood, J. Campbell, Holmes, Richardson, Christie, C. Palmer, Meek, Pinch, A. AVilliams, Isaacs, J. Findlay, Badham, Hurst, Bensley, "Anonymous," and the Misses Wheeler (2), Richardson, M'Menamen, Kirkcaldie, Wilson, Bannister, voii Dadelszen, M'Kellar, and Macintosh.
