;monet market: The Bank ot.Endand discount rate was on January 2. 1914. reduced from 5. to ty per cent., on January 22 it was reduced to 1 oer cent., and on January 28 3 tier cent. On July 30 the rate was raised to 4 per cent., and on July 31 it was raised tc 6 per cent., and on August 1 it was fur\lhcr advanced to 10 per cent. On . August, 6 the rate was reduced to 6 per cent., on August 7 it was further reduced to' 5 per cent., on July 13, 1916. it was raised to 6 per cent., on January 12, 1917, it was redilceH to 5J per cent., and on April 5 it was further reduced to 5 per cent. OPEN MAEKET BATES. The open market discount rate for.three months' bills at 43 \ per cent, as compared with 4 13-16 per cent, last week, and 5 9-16 per cent, last year.
