A FEW AMENDMENTS. Amendments to the War Pensions Amendment Bill were introduced in the House of Representatives yesterday afterThe amount, that may be allowed to a soldier in consideration of loss o£ vjages and expenses incurred to enable a BOldlsr pensioner to undergo special treatment, it is proposed, "shall be increased from 10s. to £1 a week. . , A provision is made to inorease trom 10s to 15s. a week the amount that way be allowed as extra pension to a widow to maintain her in her ■ accustomed standard of comfort. A new clause declares that a pension, at the maximum rate shall be given to a widow and children in case of deatn, of a member of the Forces, her husband. Another new clause empowers the board to grant a pension to the female guardian of motherless children. A pension given to such a woman must not exceed £1 a week.
