The Petone Bowling Club opened their green for the season last Saturday. There ■ was a large attendance, Including representatives from the various clubs in the Wellington district. The president, Mr. W H. Melhuish. declared the green open, and said the club had been in existence for 21 years, and the green was better to-day than at any previous time, which reflected great credit on the Green Committee. Mr. Melhuisli ■ welcomed the visitors and Mrs. Melhuisli put up the first jack; but owing to the rain coming at this time no play was indulged in. Mrs. Melhuisli provided an excellent tea, after which the visitors dispersed.
