FINDING OF THE COURT

DUE PRECAUTIONS TAKEN

Decision was yesterday delivered by the Nautical Court which inquired into the sinking of the s.s. Port Kembla. by an explosion that occurred when the vessel Vas off Capo Farewell shortly after midnight 'on September 18.\ Mr. W. G. Biddell, S.M., presided, and with him on the Bench as assessors were Dr. Maclaurin, Government Analyst, and Captain Noville. P. S. 'IC. Maeassey appeared for the Marino Department, and Mr. G. G. G. Watson for Captain Jack and the owners of the Fort Kembla (the Cunard Company). Tho Court gave a, finding in which all tho main points brought out. in evidence 1 were recapitulated. It found -that tho explosion was an internal one, and duo to the placing of a quantity of highiyexplosive substance in the hold by some person or persons who deliberately intended to destroy the vessel. The quantity of explosivo used was considerable, but there was no evidence .to guide the Court in determining its nature with any certainty.
