THE SHIPPING STRIKE

Mr. Forbes '..■•• asked the Prime Minister whether he ■ ivas doing everything possiblo that could he done to effect a settlement. Mr. Maseey said he had. made inquiries into the position that morning, and he ■ was sorry to say that the indications did not point to a settlement of the dispute in the near future. The Government were taking action in the matter, nnd he had certain'proposals to submit to Cabinet the next day. The Kennedy is the latest steamer to fce added to those tied up by the strike.
