BIG DRAFT OF RETURNED MEN ARRIVE. Fluttering flags and an eitmosptiero of happy expectancy denoted the arrival at noon yesterday of a large draft if v.arworn heroes from tho Western front. The men, who wero welcomed by a K'.rgo assemblage of relatives and friends from all parts of tho country, looked very well after '.their long health-gmng voyage, but the joy of tho general welcome was tinged with sadness at the number of maimed men who greeted their loved ones. Many were still en crutches, as . tho result of injured ieet and legs, and dozens made their appear, ance with their arms in slings. Waves of sympathy -went out from the crowd to the cot ; cases as they were brought ashore and transferred to motor ambulances in waiting. With, their usual energy and thoughtfulness the Mayor and Mrs. Luke, with other willing helpers, were soon amongst the men' with fruit, flowers, cigarettes, etc., which they served out with wcrds of cheer and encouragement to all. Some'half-a-dozen members of the Motor Reserve «lso put their cars at the disposal of the wounded men and their relatives, a service which was very valuable in some .instances. In the afternoon many of the men left by railway for their "homes in tho country.
