"VULGARLY ABUSIVE"
MR, MxVSSEY AND DR. GIBB. The strongly adverse criticism levelled at the National Government by tho Rev. Dr. Gibb at a six o'clock closing demonstration on Sunday night was mentioned in tho House of Representatives last evening. Mr. R. M'Oallum (Wairau) asked the Prime Minister if I'js attention had been drawn to the'subject. He suggested that the Government should consider the advisability of referring the speech to the Crown Law Office with a view to seeing if action under the War Regulations should bo takeu. As a Presbyterian I resent very much the remarks that wern made," soid Mr. M'Callum. "I <Io not think that the gentleman who utteml these 'vc-rds is in touch with the right-thinking people of this Dominion." Mr. Ma6sey said that he had lead a report of the speecli in one of the morning newspapers. "I thought at the time th:> remarks wero vulgarly iibnsivo, but otherwise I did not think th»y were worthy of notice," added tho Prime Minister.
