DROWNED IN THE HARBOUR
The inquest concerning the death of a seainan named Walter Sarsfield, aged 48 years, which was adjourned on Thursday last, was concluded on Saturday before Mi;. S. E. M'Garthy, S.M. The body of tho deceased was found floating in tho harbcur near the King's Wharf steps on Wednesday morning, and was subsequently identified. According to the evidence, Sarsfleld was not seen alive_ after August 24. A deck hand on the Ivaraka named John Oliver stated that on August 28 the Karaka was towing a barquo to sea, and just boforo sho cast off the chief officer of the barque handed witness a sailor's kit-bag labelled "Sarsfield," saying that the kit belonged to Sarsfield, who had not como aboard. Tho verdict was that Sarsfield met his death by drowning on August' 21, hut there was no evidence- to show whethor it: was accidental or intentional.
