The committee of the ' Welliiigton Cricket Association, in its annual report, states that the season wus again a very quiet one, tho policy of not play.injr representative matches during the war being continued. Interest in the senior competitions was maintained throughout the season. Some really good games wero played, and the leading teams in many cases were able to maintain their superiority only alter •'strenuous second innings' efforts. In the junior and thixdgi'iide matches some difficulty was experienced in carrying through the competitions owing to the depleted membership of the cliibs interested and the'abisence o£ the various college elevens on. 'Christmas vacation. The winners of tho various championships were as follow:— Senior, East; junior, Marist Brothers' Old Boys; third, Institute Old Eoys. Tho finances of the association are in a fair position, but the committee views with concern ft diminishing income . account duo to tho war conditions. The rule providing for disqualification of clubs, whoso ground fees are in arrear worked well, and as a result all moneys which fell duo during the season were collected. The committee regrets that its efforts to assist tho individual clubs financially il>y allowing them 90 per cent, of tho takings at tho championship final games wore, with two exceptions, not supported. The committee desires to place on record its sympathy with the relatives of cricketers who'havb lost their lives during the war. The association's agreement with the Wellington City Council as to the use and control of tho Basin Keservn einire.s this month, and negotiations for a renewal aro now being made. The thanks of the association are due to the umpires who afeted during tho season, to the Press for reports of moetings and matches, and honorary members for their continued support. The receipts for tho year totalled .E22.1 19s. 3d., including ground foes not .CGB 155.; subscriptions, MS Cs.; Basin Reserve gates, JSP) Bs. !ld.; ami bom members, .£33 12s.
