DANNEVIRKE HUNT MEETING OIIABAN WINS HUNT CUP. (B.v TelecraDh-Suecial Correspondent.) Dannevirke, September 13. The Danncvirko Hunt Club Meeting was held in fine weather and before a fair attcn'dancc. Tho totalisator handled £10,613, against £8332 for the last meetiug, There were only four slsrters in tho Hunters' Hurdles. The favourite was Dunrobiu, and he jumped oil in fros*, and lea tho whole way. Gaekwar was the only other horso to finish. Gin Sling fell and broke his leg, and Lupinite also turned over. Four was again the main in the Maiden Steeplechase. The pace was a crawl for a mile and a half, but then Holly Hock went to the front. . In the straight Houtu ran to-tho front and won easily. Miss Gun iiriiehed fast and beat Holly Hock for second Jlace.
- Bloomine, who was making Wβ nrst aopoarance, and Cyndrolla divided the machino honours in the Maiden Fiat race. Blooininc won by a neofc from Kahumangu, ' witU a rank outsider in Willys Knighti next and Oyndrella closo ui). The Hunt Cup Steeplechase was a disappointing race, but it afforded no end of amusement to tho crowd, who roared themselves hoarse at tho antics of some of "the emergency riders. Chaban waß a good favourite, Warn'ead being tho only other horse backed. At the second fence Warhead fell, and Argo lost his rider. At tho hack Onipoto fell at the double, aud Te Mamiiri fell at the lion-coop. This left the favourite to complete the course, which he did without mishap. The owner of Te Manuiri then divested himself o£ hie jacket, and though his mount had ■broken down he made liim complete the course. At the last fence tho horse refused, hut the rider cleared it. He then remounted and once more took on his task. Argo was also remounted, and completed the course. J. Preston, rider of Te Itanuiri, was badly shaken. After tho race Mr. T. 31. Taylor, owner of tho winner, was presented with a handsome rose-bowl, the gift of Mr. 0. A. Jensen.
The Flyius Hack Handicap resulted in a win for Idyllic, a member of T. Pritchard's stables. Pall Mall led into the straight from Triokery, Queen Lizzie, and Welshman. Inside the distance Bezmar aud Idyllic shot out, and the Wellington mare finished the better, and won by a neok. Trickery was close up third. Jem scored in the Hack Stcoples after a good finish with Merry Jack. Torchy ran off, but eventually finished third. Sabrenui refused at the double, and Pawcrewere fell two furlongs from home when holding a commanding position.
Hastie, runner-up to Rio on the opening 'day. was a good favourite in the Hack Flat Handicap. The favourite was always prominent, and with Tuticorn and Lady Edith led flown tho back. In the straight the field closed u». but Ha 3tic shot out at tho finish and won easily from Maractotara, with Blackall in third place. The concluding event was regarded as the best of good things for Mattock, and bo It /proved. He won easily at the finish, and gave the smallest return of tho meeting.
