The Hon. Dr. Pomare, Sir James Carroll, and Mr. Tan Hennro have left Wellington to attend the Maori meeting which is to be held at Morrinsville on Friday.
Mr. W. A. Kennedy, manager at Wellington of the Union Steam Ship Co., has resumed'his. duties after a'holiday in Napier.
A Press Association cablegram states that Mr. W. A. Holman, Premier of New South. Wales, has arrived in New York. - \
Captain R. G. Purdy, M.C., N.Z.S.C, Brigade-Major N.Z. Rifle Brigade, lias been awarded the Croix de Guerre (2nd class). He had the decoration pinned on his breast by General Antoine, Commander of the Ist French Army, in July last. /Captain Purdy, who is a eon of Colonel J, R. Purdy, Director of Medical Services, left Now- Zealand with the Ist and 2nd Battalions "of the Riflo Brigade. Colonel PurdyV brothor, Lieut.-Cblonel J, Purdy, O.C. No. 10-Field Ambulance, Australian Imperial Force,. has received the D.S.O. He resided in. New Zealand for some years, and on the outbreak of war .went to the front with the Ist Australian Division.
Xieut.-Colonel AV. H. S. Moorhouse, chairman of the 3rd Wellington Military Service Board, is back in Wellington after spending 6ome: weeks iii tho Auckland district for the benefit of his health, which has much improved. His leave mil not expire until the end of the present month.
Captain Martindale Kendall, of the Royal Army Medical Corps, who has been on service in Palestine, has returned to Wellington on furlough. \
A Requiem Mass for the repose of the soul of Very Rev. Father Keogh, S.M., 8.A., one time Rector of St. Patrick's College, will ho celebrated at 9.30 this morning, at St. Joseph's Church, Buckle Street.
Mr. Arthur Amies, who has succeeded Mr. E. W. Lowe as manager in New Zealand for the A.M.P., has taken up his now duties. Ho has been sucoetded in Brisbane by Mr. F. F. M'Eride, manager in .South Australia for some years.
Mr. James Doyle, Chief Inspector for the Wellington City Corporation, who was on holiday leave in Sydney when tho strike broke out there, has been contributing articles on old athletic champions and training methods, new and old, to the Sydney "Refereo."
Mrs. N. A. Kenny, of No. 217 Tinakori Road, has been advised by the Prime Minister and Sir James Allen that her son, Gunner Joseph Kenny, was admitted to hospital on August 23, suffering from a slight attack of. tonsilitis. Gunner Kennv, whoso father is a sergeant on the Somes Island staff, left will the Main Body, and has been twice wounded in action.
Advice has been received by Mrs. Noble, of Huia Street, Lower Hutt, that her son, Gunner P. H. Noble, is in tho 24th General Hospital, Staples, dangerously ill with dysentery. Gunner Noble was for some time with' Messrs. C. and A. Odlin, and was a prominent member of tho Maranni Life-Saving Club, no enlisted in Nelson, and left wi& the Tenth Reinforcements.
