fßr GLENCOB.I I The Dannevirl;o Racine Olnb'e Spring Meeting will be held on Wednesday next, and the Hunt Olub will race on the same course the following day. The well-known Biccarton trainer, F. D. Jonesi and Jockeys K. Tapn, S. Henderson, S. Keid, ,T. Olscn, .E. Kedmond, and S. Ware have been called to the colours. Already there is a falling ofl in the entry lists, for the difterent raco meetings, and the.Otaki and Ashburton lists have not filled aa ivell as might have been expected after the reception the Marton and' programmes got. Mr. James Bull, owner of Golden Maroh and Colorado, is laid un at Hunterville, and was unable to be present to see his horses race at Marton. ■ '
Jfr. J. M'Mahon, chief stipendiary eteward, was taken ill on the'morning of the Marton races, and 'could not officiate at the meeting , . As Mr. A. W. Gordon was in Auckland the meeting was held without a stipendiary. ■ ' .
P. Davis informed nie at the Marton Meeting that he had received definite instructions, from Mr. T. H. Lowry to abandon the proposed trip to Pandwick with Desert Gold and Estland's brother.
Secretary Hobi-rt Takle, of the Dannevirke Racine; Olub, informed the writer yesterday that ho anticipated his two .'clubs having very successful meetings next iweek. The demand for accommodation has never bemi so largp. and he himself had booked boxes for over ono hundred horsea. ' • . •
Applications for the position of handicapper to the Auckland Eacing Olub closed Inst, nieht, and the committees is meeting to-day to deal with them. The two local handica-ppers, Messrs. J. E. Henrys and H. Coyle, are not, it is stated, applicants for tho position..
Private advice to hand from tho Auokland trainer, E. J.
